ARC Review: Scrumptious [Mass Market Paperback]

I’ve finished “Scrumptious” by Amanda Usen.

Product Description

TALL, DARK & DELICIOUS

Joe Rafferty is just as mouthwatering as the food he cooks. But if he thinks he’s going to waltz in and take over her kitchen, he’s denser than a thick slice of chocolate ripple cheesecake. Marly has invested too much of her life in Chameleon to hand off the restaurant to someone else — especially a cocky-as-all-get-out superstar chef. But there’s no denying the man knows how to light her fire. Question is: Can she have the sizzle without feeling the burn?

About the Author

Amanda Usen knows two things for certain: chocolate cheesecake is good for breakfast and a hot chef can steal your heart. Her husband stole hers the first day of class at the Culinary Institute of America. They live in Western New York with their three children and an ancient beagle.

My Review:

Marlene Bennett is the pastry chef at her best friend’s Olivia’s restaurant Chameleon.  She catches Olivia’s husband Keith in the cold room with his pants down and he is fired.  She believes this is her greatest moment that she would be the one to head up the front line.  Instead Olivia asks her best friend scrumptious Joe Rafferty to help out.

Marlene resents that Joe Rafferty is heading up the front line so she bribes a couple of her co-workers to sway the lunch customers to order steak, etc to keep him busy.  Joe also judges her by the way she acts among the restaurant men.  It takes time for them to warm up to each other.  They certainly are like oil and water but when Marlene finally thaws it’s like hot chocolate.

When things start going wrong at the restaurant Joe thinks Marlene is behind them to make him look bad.  They don’t realize something more sinister is behind it.

I was so glad when Olivia kicked her husband Keith to the curb but I didn’t like it when she start breaking down and was thinking of letting him come back to the restaurant (even after he stole money from her).

3.5/5

I’ve finished “Dylan” the 2nd book in her Secret Life of Cowboys series by C.H. Admirand.

Product Description

THERE WAS NOTHING HE COULDN’T TAME …

Dylan Garahan might be an old hand at lassoing fillies, but one night at the Lucky Star club, and he ends up wrapping his rope around someone that even his formidable strength can’t tame. She’s wily and beautiful… and she’s his new boss. Dylan’s had his heart broken before, but even an honest cowpoke has to wrestle with temptation…

UNTIL HE GOT HIS LASSO AROUND HER

Ronnie DelVecchio might be fresh off the bus from New Jersey, but she’s a hard-edged businesswoman and has had her fill of men she can’t trust – although she might consider getting off her high horse for that big, handsome rancher with a Texas drawl.

My Review:

Tyler the eldest Garahan has retired as a dancer at the Lucky Star Club and is living with Emily at the family ranch.  Dylan is the newest Garahan dancer strutting his stuff as a favor for Jolene Langley, Emily’s cousin.

During his routine three women walk into the Club and one is blindfolded which he lassos in.  Her friends remove the blindfold and Dylan reels her into his arms.  Her name is Ronnie DelVecchio and she isn’t too happy about it but once Dylan kisses her in front of everyone she finally gives into the kiss and enjoys it.  Dylan takes one look at the gorgeous brunette with the green eyes and knows he wants her.

Dylan is determined to make Ronnie his but even though she is attracted to Dylan she makes sure to deter his advances because of the family curse.  Also she has to deal with the vandalism of her shop The Guilty Pleasures.  The thing is Dylan is the Garahan brother who is going to rebuild her shop and she agrees to cook for them in exchange.

The banter between Ronnie and Dylan was very steamy so when they both finally give into their desires you know it will be hot and sexy.

Loved the setup of Jesse’s back story and can’t wait to for his book to be released.
